|12248||GRASSES / INDOXACARB||RS (6/19/17)email to HQ discussions with KD (HQ) thought this project was addressed with data from PR 9521 (grasses seed crop) for Section 18 and Section 24 c in Northern CA (RS 6/19/17)
The target pest is alfalfa weevil. It is not a pest of the perennial grasses but is a serious pest of the alfalfa that is grown together with the perennial grasses.
NEEDED: This product is needed to control alfalfa weevil in alfalfa/perennial grass mixtures. While there are several insecticides registered for use on alfalfa, there are very few registered on grasses and the insecticides have to be registered on both crops in order to be used. The only insecticide products registered for use on grasses that would control alfalfa weevil are malathion and Beta-cyfluthrin (Baythroid). Malathion has poor efficacy and we have documented resistance to Baythroid, leaving producers without an effective treatment.
